Find Sybase Version From Unix Commandline

Summary: How to find the sybase database version.
Date: Around 2010
Refactor: 29 April 2025: Checked links and formatting.

Small howto on finding the Sybase version without logging into the database tools (isql). You'll need to run sybase.sh to load the sybase environment into your shell. After that you can run the dataserver -v command.

I use the sybase user to run that command, it has the sybase environment by default:

$ dataserver -v
